Mrs. Bertha S. Adams, age 99, formerly of Buffalo Mills, died at 9:50 AM , Sunday, June 1st, 2008 at Pennknoll Village,

Mrs. Adams was born in Somerset County, on Friday, May 14, 1909, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Stouffer) Speicher.

Bertha was a member of the Buffalo Mills United Methodist Church, the Bedford County Grange, and RSVP. She also worked as a nurses aide. Along with her husband they owned and operated Adams Grocery in Buffalo Mills for many years.

She was the widow of Clifford C. Adams, whom she married December 20, 1928 and he preceded her in death April 5, 1973..

Bertha is survived by Daughter- Doris J. widow of Eugene Perdew, Bedford; Daughter- Leah C. wife of George Saylor, Hermitage; Son-in-law William Slack widower of Phyllis Slack , Schellsburg; Sister- Grace Sivits, Berlin. Bertha is also survived by 6 Grandchildren - Jerry & Douglas Saylor, Lisa Banjak, Randa Rhodes, Danny Slack & Amy Jo Henderson, along with 10 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 3 Brothers- Clarence, Oscar & Daniel Speicher and 4 Sisters - Florence, Stella Keller & 2 infant sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008, with Rev. Mark Griffith officiating.
