                                 OBITUARY                   June 30, 2008

                                                      Roy F. Kegg

 

 

 

Mr. Roy Franklin Kegg, age 97, of Wertz Street, Manns Choice, Bedford County,  passed away quietly at 1:47  PM , Friday, June 27th, 2008 at his home, 

Mr. Kegg was born in Manns Choice,  on June 7, 1911,  he was the son of the late John F. and Mary Etta (Shaffer) Kegg.
He worked as a civil service employee  for the U. S. Government and was affiliated with both Trinity United Church of Christ abd Grace United Church of Christ and was a member of Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F & AM.

. While living in Lancaster, then Chambersburg, he was transferred from Philadelphia to Lancaster in 1943 by the U. S. Signal Corps as a civilian inspector at Penn Boiler.  In a 30 year career with the U. S. Army Signal, Transportation and Ordinance Corps and in Army Material Command serving at Indiantown Gap, Marietta Depot and Letterkenny, before retiring with his wife to his native Manns Choice, Bedford County home in 1972. While living in Lancaster he became a Charter Member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge #764 F & AM..

He was the widower of Frances Catherine (Hyde, whom he married December 31, 1932 and she preceded him in death December 29, 2006.)  .

He is survived by  Daughter- Nina L. wife of  Thomas Hendrix, Allendale, MI.  Roy is also survived by 3 grandchildren - J. Michael Hendrix, Susan wife of William Doughty, Lorian wife of Kevin Sutter, 6 great-grandchildren along with a number of nieces & nephews.  He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers - William, Harry & Harvey and a sister - Mary Mowry.

A Funeral Service will be held  at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, PA. at 10:30  AM on Wednesday, July 2nd,  2008, with Pastor H. John Miller, officiating.

Interment at Milligans Cove Cemetery, Buffalo Mills, .
 Friends are invited to call Tuesday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9  PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg..
