OBITUARY June 18, 2008
Peggy Ann Smith
Mrs. Peggy Ann Smith, age 69, of Old Quaker Church Road, Fishertown, died Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 at West Penn Hospital, in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Smith was born in New Paris, on Sunday, August 21, 1938, the daughter of the late Wilson P. "Pat" Strayer and Ruth (Stuckey) Strayer who survives her of New Paris.
Peggy Ann was a 1959 graduate of Indiana State Teachers College with a B.S. degree in mathematics and retired in 1995 as a mathematics teacher at Chestnut Ridge School District where she taught for 32 years..
She was a member of the New Paris United Methodist Church, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Fishertown Cemetery Board of Directors and the Fishertown Memorial Day Parade Committee. Peggy Ann enjoyed her family and friends and loved to travel..
Peggy Ann was the widow of William W. Smith, whom she married August 7, 1960, and he preceded her in death December 31, 1998..
In addition to her mother, she is survived by Son- Jeffrey W. Smith, Hamilton, VA; Daughter- LeAnn K. wife of Barlow Luhn, Frederick, MD; Sister- Jane wife of Allen Peake, Clinton, PA; Aunt - Helen Kniseley, Bedford. Peggy Ann is also survived by nieces & nephews - David, Rhonda, Kendall, Ali, DeAnna, Erin, Allyn, Will & Barb, Heather, Mark & Dan.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21st, 2008, with Rev. Ralph Landis officiating.
Interment at
Fishertown Cemetery.
Friends are
invited to call Thursday 7 to 9 PM and Friday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. at the
Mickle - Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
