OBITUARY January 30, 2008
Samuel J. Beard Sr.
Mr. Samuel J. Beard, Sr., age 71, of Allegheny Road, Manns Choice, died at 8:00 PM , Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Beard, Sr. was born in Pavia, on Friday, January 1, 1937, the son of the late Jesse and Violet (Snyder) Beard.
Sam worked as a laborer at Kelly - Springfield Tire Co. in Cumberland, MD for 22 years.. he then was employed by Hedstrom Corporation in Bedford for 10 years., and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Sam was the husband of Shirley M. (Dietz) Beard, whom he married February 28, 1955..
In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Samuel J. Beard, Jr. husband of Barbara Benna, Manns Choice; Son- Steven L. Beard husband of Gail Stottlemyer, Bedford; Daughter- Susanne M. Leppert, Manns Choice; Son- Scott J. Beard, Manns Choice; Son- Stacy J. Beard, Fishertown; Daughter- Stephanie V. Beard, Manns Choice; Sister- Anna Boden, Central City; Sister- Lucille Snider, Roaring Spring; Sister- Mary Crist, Greencastle; Brother- Frank Beard, Beach City, O.; Brother- James Beard, Whitetail; Brother- Thomas Beard, Hagerstown, MD. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 1st, 2008, with Pastor Adam Kravets officiating.
Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Manns Choice.
