                                                Robert Samuel Burket

 

 


 

Samuel Robert Burket, age 97, of Bedford, PA , continued his journey into his next life Wednesday, January 31st, 2007 after 1:12 PM surrounded by loving family.
 

Mr. Burket was born in Loysburg, PA on December 27, 1909, he was the son of the late David F. and Susan V. (Maddocks). He was a owner / operator of

Burket Manufacturing of Bedford, and was a lifetime member of Church of the Brethren, and a member of the Everett Church of the Brethren.
Sam was the widower of Velma C. Burket, whom he married on September 20, 1933 and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2003 after 69 years of marriage.
 

He is survived by Daughter- Shirley M. wife of John C. Imler Jr., Bedford; Brother- Charles Burket, Jacksonville, FL; Brother- David Burket, Jr, husband of Susan (Kane) Woodbridge, VA; Sister- Gloria wife of John "Jack" Goad, Sebring, FL; numerous- nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 2 grandsons-John C. Imler III, of Everett, and Shane husband of Stacy (Fichtner) Imler, Bedford, and 2 great grandchildren- Alexis & Raquel. He was preceded in death by sisters-A. Romaine, Betty Redinger, M. Helen Wallace, Elda Shaffer, and Katharyn Dibert.
Samuel enjoyed boating on the Potomac River from there West Virginia cottage, traveling the US with his wife, and pontooning at Lake Raystown. During his last years he spent time compiling volumes of history of Bedford County, of his family, and many other interests. He was fond of his cat Fluff. Sam was a kind and gentle man who loved his family, met no strangers, enjoyed people and all of Gods creatures. He had a special bond with his grandson Shane with whom he shared many of the same interests.
 

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, PA. at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 with Rev. Frank Ramirez officiating.
 

Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park Bedford, PA.
 

Friends are invited to call Friday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM and Saturday 10 - 11 AM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.
