OBITUARY December 24, 2006
Joseph B. Clapper, Sr.
Joseph B. Clapper, Sr,
age 87, of Paul Street, Bedford, PA , died at 7:50 AM , Sunday, December 24th,
2006 at home.
Joseph was born in Bedford, PA on December 27, 1918, he was the son of the late
James D. and Laura M. (Kagarise) Clapper. He retired as the owner / operator of
Clapper's Flowers. Joe opened the flower shop in 1947 and he retired in 1985.
Mr. Clapper graduated from Bedford High School in 1936, served in the U.S. Army
as a Pvt in WW II, was a life member of the Bedford American Legion Post # 113,
a member of the Bedford Elks, and the Flickers Club. Joe was an avid golfer and
loved woodworking.
He was the widower of Katherine E. (Whiteman) Clapper.
Joseph Clapper Sr. is survived by Son- Joseph B. Clapper, Jr. husband of Faye
(Fisher), Bedford; Son- Douglas M. Clapper, Coatsville; Daughter- Barbara J.
widow of Larry E. Weyant, Bedford; Daughter- Janice L. wife of Galen Sembower,
King George, VA; Son- James S. Clapper, Chambersburg; Brother- Thomas Clapper,
Bedford. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great
great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by an infant daughter Marie Ann,
brothers-Woodrow, Edmund, Roland, Robert, Daniel, & John, sisters-Mildred
Walbeck & Willa Snell.
A funeral service will be held at Louis
Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, PA. at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 28th, 2006
with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.
Interment at Bedford Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral
Home, Bedford.
