OBITUARY December 13, 2007
James L. "Lindy" Felten
Mr . James L. "Lindy" Felten, age 79, of Vine Street, Schellsburg, died at 9:30 PM , Wednesday, December 12th, 2007 at Meadowview Manor, Berlin,
Mr. Felten was born in New Baltimore, on Thursday, February 23, 1928, the son of the late Charles H. and Marie J. (Weimer) Felten.
He worked in maintenance and was a tunnel guard for the PA Turnpike Commission until retiring..
Lindy was a member of the United Church of Schellsburg where he had served on the church council, a life member of the Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Company, social member of VFW Post #4440, and a former member of the Schellsburg Boro Council. He enjoyed his family, gardening, hunting, fishing and wine making..
He was the husband of Alice J. (Simmons) Felten, whom he married September 14, 1957..
In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Jeffrey J. Felten husband of Kim Karns, Bedford; Son- Timothy P. Felten, Manahawkin, NJ; Son- Michael C. Felten and fiancee Susannah V. Faupel, Schellsburg; Brother- Lloyd Felten, Manns Choice; Brother- William Felten, Schellsburg. Lindy is also survived by 5 grandchildren - David C. Felten, Farrah I. Felten, Steven L. M. Felten, Kyle C. Bryan and Victor Faupel-Persons. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers - Edmund "Bud", Norbert, Charles, Robert "Pete", & 7 sisters - Marie, Mary, Trudy Fochtman, Ida Kimmell, Edith Hurley, Madie Miller & Delores Dayton.
A Memorial service will be held at the United Church of Schellsburg at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 27th, 2007, with Rev. Ruth Shaver & Dr. Merle Correll officiating.
