OBITUARY June 3, 2007
Bert Mitchell
Mr. Bert Mitchell, age 83, of Cortland Drive, New Paris, died at 7:50 PM ,
Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 at Memorial
Medical Center, Johnstown, Cambria County,.
Mr. Mitchell was born in New Paris, on Sunday, April 27, 1924, the son of the
late Emmett and Georgia M. (Crissman)
Mitchell.
He was a barber in New Paris for 60 years. and also retired in 1990 as a truck
driver for PennDot. He enjoyed wood
working and caneing of furniture.
Bert was lifetime member of the New Paris United Methodist Church, a member of
the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440,,
the Everett American Legion Post #8,.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman first class in WW II. receiving the
Victory medal, American Campaign medal,
and the Asiatic Pacific medal..
Bert was the husband of Jean (Hillegass) Mitchell, whom he married July 27,
1946..
In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Nancy J. wife of Bill
Simons, Fort Myers, FL; Son- Roger C. Mitchell,
Scottsdale, AZ; Daughter- Gloria J. wife of Marvin Miller, New Paris; Son- John
N. husband of Jodi Hoffman, Bettendorf,
Iowa; Sister- Sylvia Craighead, Springfield; Brother- Robert Mitchell, Newark,
DE. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren,
and 5 great grandchildren and was preceded in death by a sister Helen Oldham.
A Funeral Service will be held at
Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 11:00 AM
with Rev. Robert Stultz & Rev. Ralph Landis officiating.
Interment at Cuppett Cemetery, New
Paris.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday 7 to
9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.

New Paris United Methodist Church. Graveside military rites accorded by the
Fort Bedford Honor Guard..
