                                 OBITUARY                        December 12, 2006

                                                   Thelma E. Morse

 

 

 

Thelma E. Morse, age 98, of East Pitt Street, Bedford, PA , died at 8:25 AM , Monday, December 11th, 2006 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.

Miss Morse was born in Artemas, PA on Saturday, December 21, 1907, she was the daughter of the late David S. and Aerie (Smith) Morse.

Thelma was a school teacher for 45 years, teaching at Manns Choice High School for 11 years, Schellsburg - Napier High School for 8 years, and Everett High School for 26 years. She began her career as a teacher in a one room school house and retired as the founding librarian at Everett High School. After retiring she served on the Board of Directors at the Everett Library and volunteered for 15 years.

She was a lifetime member of Bedford United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, and secretary to the Church Council for 25 years.

She was a life member of the NEA (National Education Association), a member of the PSEA (Pennsylvania State Education Association), PASR (Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees), member of the Delta Kappa Gamma-Alpha Beta Chapter. She received her masters in Library Science at Clarion State Teachers College and an AB in Mathematics from Juniata College.
Thelma enjoyed traveling, during her journey she traveled to Norway, Russia, British Isles, Finland, Denmark, Canada, Bermuda, and all across the US..

She is survived by Niece- Lynne Foreman, and her children, Lisa (Foreman) Tucker, and Scott D. Foreman all of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother David W. Morse, and sisters-Mary S. Morse and Ruth F. Dalglish.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, PA. at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 16th, 2006 with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.
Interment at Bedford Cemetery .
 

Friends are invited to call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.

Contributions can be made to to the Thelma E. Morse Library Fund to benefit the library at Everett High School.
