                                       R. Monroe "Rocky", "Bub" Shankle

Mr. R. Monroe "Rocky", "Bub" Shankle, age 82, of Shankle Road, Schellsburg, PA , died at 11:10 AM ,
Thursday, October 19th, 2006 at Pennknoll Village, Snake Spring Twp., PA.
 

Mr. Shankle was bom in Frederick, MD on Monday, October 29,1923, he was the son of the late
Raymond Joshua Shankle and Blanche (Hooper) Shankle.
 

He was a member of United Church of Schellsburg, the Schellsburg Lions Club, the Southern Cove
Tractor Club, New Enterprise, and a life member of the Carroll Manor Fire Company, Adamstown, MD.
Monroe was a dairy farmer all his life, he farmed in Adamstown, MD. until 1970, and in Schellsburg until
his death. He was a former Pioneer Seed Corn salesman for the area, and was an avid antique John
Deere tractor collector.
 

Monroe was the husband of Elsie Mae (Ott) Shankle, whom married on March 31,1945.
 

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Dennis M. husband of Bonnie (Boyer) Shankle,
Cumberland, MD; Son- Fred A. husband of Susan (Walsh) Shankle, Schellsburg; Son- Bruce 0.
husband of Lisa (Turner) Shankle, Schellsburg; Sister- Mildred Ott, Jerome; Sister- Betty Shankle,
Jerome. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren-Charity Holley, Michael Shankle, Amanda Lafferty, Trudy
Shankle, and Tanya Shankle, 4 great grandchildren-Cody, Haley, Alaina, Natalie, 2
step-grandchildren-Derek and Karah Wertz. He was preceded in death by a brother Harold Shankle and
sister Helen Ott.
 

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, PA. at 11:00 AM on
Saturday, October 21st, 2006 with Rev. Dr. Merle Con-ell and Rev. Ruth Shaver officiating.
 

Interment at Schellsburg Cemetery Schellsburg, PA.
 

Friends are invited to call Friday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg and
Saturday 10-11 AM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home.
