OBITUARY February 3, 2008
C. Russell Speicher
Mr. C. Russell Speicher, age 80, of Allegheny Road, Manns Choice, died Friday, February 1st, 2008 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Speicher was born in Central City, on Sunday, March 13, 1927, the son of the late Oscar and Violet (Small) Speicher.
He worked as a carpenter and farmer and had a life long love of horses..
Russ was a longtime member of The Fort Bedford Honor Guard, a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113, a member of the former St. Marks United Church of Christ and a current member of Christ Victory Church at New Buena Vista, where he has held many offices in the church..
He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class in WW II.
Russell was the husband of Evelyn L. (Diehl) Speicher, whom he married August 17, 1949, his death ends a marriage union of 58 years..
In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Wayne E. husband of Pamela Fisher, Roaring Spring; Daughter- Deborah J. wife of James J. Mowry, Manns Choice; Brother- Oscar Speicher, Jr., Manns Choice; Brother- Meredith Speicher, Manns Choice; Brother- Donald Speicher, Raleigh, NC; Brother- Carl Speicher, Raleigh, NC; Brother- Jay Speicher, Bedford. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Russ was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter - Cora G. Harrison., Infant sister - Irene Catherine and step-mother M. Irene (Smith) Speicher.
A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Victory Church at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 with Rev. Barry Bressler & Rev. Philip Steele, officiating.
Interment at Schellsburg Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by The Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Friends are invited to call Monday 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg and Tuesday 10:00 to !0:30 AM at Christ Victory Church.
