Lifelong resident of Bard Hollow, Robert Fred “Bob” Lohr died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.  He was born on July 26, 1923, the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Mowry) Lohr.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne (Shaffer) Lohr and by his brother, Raymond Lohr.

He is survived by his daughters, Jane (John) Furcho, Edie I. (Lary) Haines, and Bonnie (Mike) Logsdon,  a sister, Ernestine Phillips, eight beloved grandchildren, Johnna Furcho-Oaks, Sally Furcho-Dobbens, Rikki Haines-Kamauf, Lauren Haines, Caitlyn Haines, Jeremey Logsdon, Adam Logsdon and Tyler Logsdon and by nine adored grandchildren, Hayden, Kaulin, Kari, Dresden, Harlan, Irelyn, Garrison, Flynn and Nola.

The loves of his life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they in turned adored their "Big Pap".

Bob was a proud Army Veteran, who served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, during World War II, where he received a Bronze Star and Philippine Victory Medal.  He was a charter member of the Rocky Ridge Sportsmen Club, a 50 year member of the Hyndman Masonic Lodge, a member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen Club, the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440, and the Central City American Legion Post #449.  Bob was one of the last surviving members of the Schellsburg High School Class of 1942 and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Manns Choice.  He retired from Kelly Springfield Tires after 35 years of employment.

Bob loved Bard Hollow and was especially grateful for his good friend, Bobby Oaks and the kindness and friendship of his neighbors, Spike, Denise, Tank and Vickie.

At his request, Mr. Lohr was cremated and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow for friends and Family at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
