Betty I. (Lamburn) Allison

January 24, 1926 — September 10, 2019

Betty I. Allison, 93, of Lovely, Pa, died on Monday, September 10, 2019.  She was born in Kimmel Twp., Bedford County on January 24, 1926, daughter  of the late Clarence  and Ethel (Mock) Lamburn.

On June 1, 1950, she married Bud Allison, in Winchester, WV. Bud preceded her in death on January 19, 2004. They had two children, Jack, married to Cindy (Teeters) Allison and Cathy, married to Jim Mock, who all reside in Lovely.

She is also preceded in death by her oldest Sister-Dorothy Stufft Warner, and only Brother- Wilford Lamburn. Her youngest Sister-Shirley Mock Allison, is still living. Betty’s mom died when Betty was only 18 and she was put into the role of taking care of the house for her Dad and taking care of her two younger siblings. She even took Willie and Shirley along on dates with Bud. She continued being a homemaker after she married Bud and never worked outside the home but she was a very hard worker all her life. Without a doubt, her favorite role was being a Mom and she was a wonderful one. She put her kids before herself all the time without a second thought. Family was her priority and that included her siblings and brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a quiet and gentle lady. She was also a faithful Christian all her life and took her kids to church at Mt. Union UMC regularly, starting the first Sunday they were born. Among her favorite activities were visiting family, gardening, canning, her flowers, going for walks regularly, and even push mowing the yard. She also enjoyed helping teach Vacation Bible School at the Mount Union Church. Later in life she and Bud became members of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Church but most recently she had again been attending Mt. Union Church with Jim and Cathy. She often said that she wished people would realize that God is real, and that there is a heaven to be gained and a hell to be shunned, and for her loved ones in particular to make the choice to accept Jesus as Lord. She firmly believed that was the only way to assure your place in heaven.
