Kathryn M Bowman

Kathryn M. Bowman, 86, of Lincoln Highway, Manns Choice passed away peacefully at home at 5:57PM Monday, July 16, 2018.

She was born on the family farm at Tulls Hill on Friday, December 11th, 1931.  She was the youngest of 11 children and is the last surviving member of her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna (Kochera) Sciranko, her brothers John Jr., Mike, Steve, George, Andy and sisters Margaret, Pauline, Mary, Anna and Elizabeth.

On July 21, 1956 she married the love of her life, David "Bud" Bowman, who preceded her in death on June 23, 2010.

Kathryn is survived by son Michael Bowman and companion Carrie Jones of Tulls Hill and daughter Patricia, wife of Steven Smith of Bedford.  She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Valene (Bowman) Kinsey, wife of Michael Kinsey of Tulls Hill, Jenna (Bowman) Raynor, wife of James Raynor Jr. of Pleasant Gap, Pa and Kyle Smith of Bethlehem.

In addition, Kathryn is survived by her 3 great grandchildren, whom she adored, Chase, Brinley and Alexa as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a 1949 graduate of Schellsburg-Napier High School.  Primarily a homemaker and loving mother, she was employed for many years at the Reese's factory in Schellsburg and the A & P store in Bedford.  She attended Tulls Hill Bible Church.

She loved to watch NASCAR, cheering on her favorite driver, Brad Keselowski and also enjoyed rooting for the Pirates and the Steelers.  She would never turn down an invite to enjoy her favorite meal and visit her friends at Hoss's.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved any time spent with her family.  She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:30am with Pastor Stanley Serafin officiating.  Interment at Schellsburg Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 19th 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the funeral home.
