Richard E. Hershberger

Richard E. Hershberger, 89, Graybill Road of Osterburg, died at 1:46 AM, Monday, November 26th, 2018 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona, Blair County, PA.

Mr. Hershberger was born in Everett, PA on May 30, 1929, son of the late Franklin W. and Honor May (Pennell) Hershberger.

Richard was the husband of Kathryn M.(May) Hershberger whom he married on April 16, 1954.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Boye R. husband of  Susie (Weyant) Hershberger, Claysburg, PA; Daughter- Kelly M. wife of  Steve Hamm, Roaring Spring, PA; Grandson- Christian husband of Jess Merritts, Ducansville, PA; Granddaughter- Kylie Hershberger companion of Craig Walter , Claysburg, PA; Grandson- Kasy Hamm, Roaring Spring; Great-Grandson Miles Merrits.  Richard is preceded in death by Sister- Betty Peake.

He was a Corporate Pilot for 50 years and worked at Bun-air. Richard started flying small single engine planes and worked up to flying Lear Jets.  Richard like Nascar, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins as well as Penn State.

He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in Germany during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held  at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, PA. at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 29th, 2018 with Rev. Dr. Bill Shrout officiating.

Interment at Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, PA.
