Shirley M. Shue, 85, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at UPMC Bedford Hospital.
Shirley was born in Bedford, on February 13, 1938, daughter of the late Harry and Bernice (Allen) Mesimer.
She married Anthony Shue in March of 1957, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Shirley is survived by son- James husband of Carole Shue, of Johnstown; son- Mark Shue of Libby, MT.; daughter- Susan Melendez, of Bedford; son- Richard husband of Gail Shue, of Schellsburg; daughter- Sharon wife of Richard Bushey, of Norfolk, VA.; son- Robert husband of Lisa Shue, of Waynesboro, VA.; son- William husband of Melissa Shue, of Bainbridge, PA. Along with 15 grandchildren: Brendan, Arik and Evan Shue; Sarah and Rayna Shue; Alex, Gabriel, Michael, and Angela Melendez; Andrew and Addison Shue; Whitney and Kayla Shue; and Jacob Shue; four great-grandchildren: Peyton and Elija Logston; Kassandra Melendez and Travis Lane. Along with her parents Harry and Bernice, and husband Anthony, Shirley is preceded in death by sisters Diane Mesimer, twin sister Sydney Scott; brothers Mike Mesimer and Joseph Mesimer; and grandson Bryant.
She graduated from Bedford High School in the 1956 class.
Shirley loved to crochet and made many Pittsburgh Steeler Blankets. One of her blankets sold in a raffle for over $400. She enjoyed sending cards to everyone for their birthday, Anniversaries, graduations., Christmas and Easter. She was called affectionately "Grandma Click Click" because she was always taking pictures during family events. Her collection of pictures and photo albums along with accounts of family members and, in particular, those who served in the military going back generations will be treasured by the family for many years to come. She truly loved her family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 10-11 AM at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.
A memorial service will be on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11 AM, at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, with Pastor Daniel Diehl officiating.
Inurnment will take place at Bedford County Memorial Park.
