Amy Renee Howsare (McCoy) met her Savior face to face on June 22, 2024, at the age of 53 in Alum Bank, Pennsylvania. Born on December 3, 1970, in Cumberland, Maryland, Amy was the cherished daughter of Linda McCoy Grimes and the late David McCoy.
Amy graduated from Bedford High School in 1988 and furthered her education at Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY, and Allegany College of Maryland, where she studied business. Despite her varied career before marriage, Amy found her true calling in homeschooling her seven children, ensuring they received an education rooted in faith and excellence.
On September 21, 1996, Amy married the love of her life Steven K. Howsare and together they nurtured a loving family. She is survived by her husband; children David Zachary, Ryan, Rachel MacIntyre (Blake), Steven Jacob, Rebekah, Joshua, Jordan, stepson Drew Howsare and daughter-in-law Kendall Ferguson; grandchildren, including Addy, Jonathan, Jaxson, Mason, Emmett, and Kasey; mother Linda Grimes (Mark); brother Adam McCoy (Carole) and sister Leah Shaffer (Ryan). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she mothered like her own. Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents Walter & Velma McCoy and Carroll & Charlotte Sullivan, her father David D. McCoy, her brother Aaron D. McCoy, and fathers-in-law John Howsare and Rusty Jacobson.
A devoted member of Claysburg Bible Church, she taught Sunday school and children's church and especially loved doting on the kids in her class. Amy was well-known for her beautiful singing voice, her vivacious laugh, and her ability to teach and share her faith. Amy's heart was for others, always. She never met a stranger and was known to miss deadlines because of her willingness to counsel someone who needed encouragement or advice. Her life was a testament to living unashamedly for the Lord and sharing His love, grace, and mercy. Amy's selfless nature, capacity for forgiveness, and legacy of faith, love and dedication to her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
