Beverly
Shaffer
December 31, 1940 – May 18, 2026
Beverly James Shaffer, 85, of Schellsburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 18, 2026, with her devoted husband, Perry, by her side. The oldest of nine children, she was born January 31, 1940, on the family farm in Colerain Twp., the daughter of John and Dorothy James.
On December 20, 1978, she married Perry Shaffer. They were married for 47 years. Preceded in death by her parents and two little sisters, Debby and Susan James, brother John and his wife, Barbara; brothers-in-law: William Ronald Filer, Robert Head, And Arthur Hough. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Davidson, Shawn Davidson (husband of Julie) Jeff Davidson and Shannon Shaffer (husband of Brooke), and grandchildren: Michael Wood, Beverly Talavera, wife of Angel, Kayla Davidson, Maddox and Lincoln Shaffer. Also, surviving are two great grandsons, Gavin and Ashton Talavera. Beverly had numerous nieces and nephews who meant a great deal to her. Survived by sisters: Shirley Filer, Trafford PA; Carol Marschall and husband Stuart, Lenexa, KS, Dorothy James, Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Head Hough, Mechanicsville VA, and Connie Mitchell and husband, Robert, Bedford, PA.
Beverly worked at various jobs, but really found her niche as a Longenberger consultant. She was awarded top prizes for being a high seller in the company. She sponsored bus trips at Christmas time to the Longenberger Manufacturing plant where participants could make a basket in the factory, shop at the many stores on the grounds and attend teas in the Longenberger Tea House. She was a gracious hostess on the tours, and at the Longenberger parties in homes, and always had a smile on her face. She had a flair for decorating her home with Longenberger baskets and primitive knickknacks.
Beverly loved the Lord and faithfully, with her husband, attended the Faith Brethren Bible Church where they were both members. She was a person who was always upbeat and laughing, even though her tears. Beverly was a very giving person putting others before herself.
She requested a private funeral service for family members only. Burial will be in the Helixville Cemetery, Schellsburg PA. There will be no viewing.
Perry would like to acknowledge his family, church family and Hospice nurses for all their support and prayers throughout Beverly's illness. Contributions to her memory may be made to UPMC Hospice, 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16601.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her church at a later date to be announced.
