Carl Leroy Tew

Mr. Tew was born in Bedford on February 20, 1941, the son of the late Paul Leroy and Hazel (Miller) Tew.
On June 17, 1977, he married Joan DeMattia Tew. In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Justin husband of Deanna Tew, Texas; Son- Carl E. Tew, Centerville; Son- Paul husband of Lois Tew, Centerville; Son- Carl Tartaglia, Jr., Connecticut; Daughter- Carol wife of Keith Richards, Connecticut; Daughter- Joanne wife of William Howarth, Bedford; Sister- Grace wife of Ray Blair; Brother- David Tew; Brother- Ted husband of Wanda Tew; Brother- Wayne Tew; Sister- Paula wife of Lee Foreman; Sister- Jean wife of Robert Benna; Sister- Jane widow of Jeff Duncan; Sister- Sally wife of Terry Cover; Brother- Francis husband of Cathy Tew. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Cassandra, Laura, Steven, Christopher, Krystle, William, Katie, Rebecca, Melissa & Bryce, and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice and her husband Daryl.
Carl was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church. He previously worked for the Bedford Springs Golf Course, Standard Oil, Raybestos-Stratford in Connecticut and Hedstrom Corporation in Bedford. Carl was a life member of the Bedford Elks #1707 and an associate member of the Bedford American Legion. He was also a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480, the Fort Bedford Antique Car Club and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Carl loved to golf, was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed bowling, dancing, and the music of the 1950's. Above all things, Carl loved his family and time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a wonderful man and he is going to be missed by all who knew him .
A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 13th, 2017 with Rev. Jeff Welsch and Mr. Jim Miller officiating.
Interment will be held at Burning Bush Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
