Donald Eugene Dively, 60, of West John Street, Bedford, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 11, 2016.

He was born on December 25, 1955, in Bedford Memorial Hospital, a son of the late Donald and Phyllis (Risbon) Dively.

Don and Rhonda Wertz shared many memories together from the time he was 16 and she was 14 and on July 24, 1987 they were married in Winchester, VA.  Along with his wife, he is survived by the following brothers: John A. Dively, Allen O. Dively and Kyle and (Abby) Dively all of Bedford. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Albert and Mildred Risbon and his paternal grandparents: John and Grace Dively.  He was also preceded in death by his only sister Cathy on March 6, 1996. He and Cathy both were born on Christmas day just a few years apart.

Donnie was a graduate of Bedford High School in 1974. He was employed by Henkels & McCoy Inc. as a Telephone Lineman for several years; sometimes working with his sister Cathy and his little brother, Kyle. He was currently employed by Penndot for over 12 years where he operated a snow plow, loader, grader, spider broom, skid steer, conveyor loader, and roller. He worked on a bridge crew. Don was a member of the AFSCME Union #2131 and the Safety Committee.
Donnie enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nascar and Cooking Shows. He was a proud and faithful Dale Earnhardt fan and collected memorabilia, even displaying a “Dale Earnhardt Drive” sign on his property. Don especially enjoyed grilling out with his fellow co workers. He also liked to hunt. Donnie was a friendly person who enjoyed talking and getting to know others. He volunteered with the Bedford County Democratic Party serving at barbecue’s and helping with fundraisers. Donnie will be remembered for helping his parents in their later years by visiting daily and faithfully maintaining the yard work and snow removal at their home.  He would transport his Dad to dialysis early in the morning on holidays when CART was not available. He also transported his mother to doctor’s appointments; grocery shopped and ran errands on his day off. He would also go to the Bedford American Legion to get dinners and deliver to his parents and other neighbors. The most important decision Donnie ever made was on Sunday, November 27, 2016 when he gave his life to the Lord. Donnie was a loving husband, brother and friend who will be missed and remembered by many.
