Mr. Franklin D. "Frank" Melius, 76, of Heck Road, Bedford, went to be with Jesus at 2:45 PM, Thursday, March 3rd, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Melius was born in Broad Top on Monday, July 30, 1934, the son of the late John and Gaynell (Shaffer) Melius.

On March 26, 1955, he married Arlene (Turner) Melius. In addition to his wife he is survived by Daughter- Debra Harpster, Bedford; Son- Stephen Melius, Bedford; Daughter- Gail Karns, Bedford; Brother- Jack Melius, Saxton; Brother- Richard Melius, Hopewell; Brother- Harry Melius, Shermans Dale; Brother- Mike Melius, Hopewell; Brother- Edward Melius, Hopewell; Sister- Donna Manges, New Enterprise; Sister- Dottie Long, Six Mile Run; Sister- Gladys Long, Martinsburg; Sister- Marlene McCabe, DE; Sister- Susie White, Six Mile Run. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a great grandson, Curt Welsh, who was raised in their home.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Wishard, two grandchildren,three brothers, Carl Melius, Joe Melius and Jimmy Melius and by two sisters, Frances Miller and Mary Burton

Frank served in the United States Air Force from 1955 - 1963. He was a member of the victory Fellowship Church in Bedford. Frank was employed at Penelec Electric Company. He started as lineman and eventually retired in 1994 as the Bedford District Supervisor.

Frank was also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Bedford Moose 480, the Bedford American Legion Post #113 and the Friends Cove Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a wonderful Dad and Pappy Frank.

A funeral service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Raystown Road, Everett at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 7th, 2011 with Rev. Daniel Diehl officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home in Everett.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
