Frederick E. Vida, 89 of Bedford was called Home on March 24, 2022, while residing at Colonial Courtyard.
Born on May 1, 1932 in Mishawaka, Indiana he was the son of the late Stephen and Evelyn (Wynn) Vida.
He was preceded in death by his loving companion Eula “Bonnie” Stufft in 2020 and is survived by her family who adopted him as one of their own.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Geisel-Vida in 2015,
a brother William Vida, Stephen Vida and a sister Margaret Smee and his favorite fur friend, Molly, who could often be seen in the car with him.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Fred attended Mishawaka High School and went on to proudly serve as Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1952 - 1956.
After being discharged, he became a plant manager up until his retirement.
You could often find Fred bright and early at the Bedford Diner having his usual egg sandwich and a pie to go.
Fred enjoyed golfing and would often make long trips to find a course and you can bet if he wasn’t golfing, he was watching the golf channel. He also enjoyed bowling, participating in young at heart, photography and working on projects around the house.
It was evident that Fred was a very gentle and nurturing man by his unwavering commitment to care for his Bonnie despite his mental decline and her physical decline.
Those blue eyes, broad smile and wittiness will be greatly missed and the compassion you showed Mimi will never be forgotten.
You were one of a kind Freddy Pie.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
