Mrs. Harriet O. Miller, 80, of Quaker Valley Road, New Paris, died at 11:09 AM, Saturday, March 5th, 2011 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Miller was born in Windber on Thursday, January 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Olive (Bowser) Claycomb.

On December 2, 1948, she married William H. Miller. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2007.

She is survived by Daughter- Sandra L. wife of Joseph Z. Claycomb, Osterburg; Son- Gary L. husband of Vicki (Custer) Miller, New Paris; Daughter- Sheri K. wife of William Feight, Bedford; Brother- Joseph Edward husband of Marcia Claycomb, Cincinnati, OH; Sister- Violet wife of James Aveni, Altoona; Brother- James F. husband of Joan Claycomb, New Paris; Sister- Norma wife of Guy Ferguson, Manns Choice; Sister- Linda Jeanne wife of Warren Frost, St. Cloud, FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Dykus.

Harriet was a member of the Alum Bank United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She also developed and drew the weekly bulletin cover. Harriet first worked as a waitress at the Mid-Way Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. She then worked as a teachers aide for Chestnut Ridge Central Elementary School and then as an aide at the Schellsburg Growth and Development Center.

Harriet was a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Alum Bank Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was an exceptional artist, enjoying both drawing and painting. Harriet enjoyed shopping, traveling, spending time with her grandkids and was known as an great cook and was renowned for her rhubarb pie. Harriet could carrying on a conversation with anyone and was a friend to all she met.

A funeral service will be held at Alum Bank United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 with Rev. Gary Donaldson and Rev. Charles Jack officiating.

Interment will be held at Fishertown Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Pleasantville and on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the church.
