Harry Ross "Sonny" Shaffer

Mr. Harry Ross "Sonny"  Shaffer, 87, of Meadow Lane, Bedford, formerly of New Paris, died Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at Pennknoll Village.

Mr. Shaffer was born in Napier Township on Friday, April 26, 1929, the son of the late R.E. Shaffer and Fannie (Rose) Shaffer.

On January 20, 1951, he married Betty J. (Fisher) Shaffer.  She preceded him in death on October 3, 2001.  He is survived by his significant other, Alice Price.

In addition to Alice, he is survived by  Daughter- Leslie Shaffer, Altoona; Son- Michael Shaffer, Trenton, FL; Step Daughter- Murice Horne, Bedford; Step Daughter- Belinda McKnight, Chambersburg; Step Son- Donald Price, Jr., Bedford; Step Daughter- Kimberly Lape, Fishertown; Step Son- Jeffrey Price, Bedford; Step Son- Brian Price, Bedford; Step Daughter- Misty Chamberlain, Manns Choice. Sonny is also survived by two grandchildren, Cindy Shaffer & David Shaffer, and three great grandchildren, Trevor, Autumn & Maddie and by his faithful dog, Bruno.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Dermer, Betty Blackmar & Helen Ferko and by one brother, Galen "Ken" Shaffer.

Sonny was a member of the United Church of Schellsburg.  He was the owner and operator of R.E. Shaffer & Son Plumbing and Heating in New Paris.  Sonny was a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480 & the Schellsburg Lions Club.  He was also a social member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113 & the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440.  Sonny was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  He will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 with Rev. Dr. Ruth Shaver  & Pastor Eric Larson officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
