Jack H. Schofield, 83, of Quaker Valley Road, Alum Bank died at 9:40 PM, Friday, November 15, 2019 at Pennknoll Village, Snake Spring Twp.
Mr. Schofield was born in Pittsburgh on November 1, 1936 son of the late George and Margaret L. (Gradwell) Schofield.
On July 6, 1956 Jack married Eileen M. (Forney) Schofield.
In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Richard A. husband of Luanne (Shaffer) Schofield, Schellsburg; Son- Glenn G. Schofield, Schellsburg; Daughter- Sherry L. Graham, Mt. Lake Park, MD; Grandson- Brandon G. husband of Karri (Byers) Schofield; Grandson- Travis J. husband of Samantha (Baliton) Schofield; Granddaughter- Trudy wife of Sean McCreary; Granddaughter- Sarah Schmitz; Great-grandchildren- Rylie, Shaylie, Waylon and Jaclyn; Sister- Phyllis McIntyre, Saltsburg; Sister- Esther Fornof, Penn Hills. Jack was preceded in death by Granddaughter Stephanie N. Schmitz , Daughter-in-law Susan (Frazier) Schofield and Sister- Sandra Morrison.
Jack was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force- Strategic Air Command from January 1956 to January 1960 and also a Veteran of the PA Air National Guard from 1980-1982.
Jack worked with the Wilkinsburg Police and was on duty at WTAE when Dick Clark Broadcast "American Bandstand" in June 1960. He was a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC from 1960-1962. He was ordered to report to John Kennedy at 5:00AM on the day of his Inauguration. Jack was chosen by JFK to be with him every time he left the White House, but stayed in DC. From 1962-1964 Jack was a Prince Georges County, MD Police Officer. He once worked with VP Spiro Agnew. For 27 years Jack drove Greyhound Bus and retired from driving Greyhound in 1990, after retiring from driving Greyhound he then started working as a PA State Corrections Officer from 1990-1998.
Jack was a member of Pleasantville VFW Post #9219 and Bedford American Legion Post #113.
He was a member of Alum Bank United Methodist Church Alum Bank.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:00AM with Rev. James Golla officiating.
Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park Bedford.
Graveside Military Rights accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
