James E. Martin, 71, of New Baltimore PA, departed this life on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, with Allyson Horner at his side.
He was the son for the late Cyril L Martin and Pearle G (Speicher) Martin. He is survived by brothers: Mark E. Speicher, of Somerset; David L. Martin husband of Karen (Winegardner), of Berlin; Paul J. Martin and sister Agnes L. wife of Thomas Ratliff Sr., of Martinsburg, WV. He loved his many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The last 10 years Jim has shared his life with Allyson Mullen Horner.
James was best known as Jim or Po Joe. He was born at Bedford Hospital, May 24, 1954. He lived most of his life in the New Baltimore area. He graduated from Berlin Brothersvalley High School in 1973. He held may jobs over the years, the most important job he had was helping out with his parents in their final years.
He will be joining his mother Pearle, father Cyril, sister-in-law Ruthann (Shaver) Speicher, nephew Michael Gerhardt and niece Kristin (Schardt) Martin.
Jim always has a smile on his face that made you wonder what he was up. He had a love for life and enjoyed traveling around the area with Allyson. He loved his antique farm equipment, especially his John Deere tractor and hit and miss engines. His favorite people were his 3 great nephews, Austin, Weston and Levy. He enjoyed to cruise with Austin where he was his honorary grandpap. You could see him cheering Weston and Levy as they practiced for the peddle pull events.
He enjoyed making apple butter with family and friends in the fall of the year.
Jim was a member for St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, where in his younger years he served as an altar boy.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10 AM, at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, with Father Mark Pattock- Celebrant.
A Committal Service will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Baltimore, PA.
