Joan N. (DeMattia) Tew

Joan N. Tew, 85, of Bedford, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona.

Joan was born in Bridgeport, CT. on July 29, 1938, daughter of the late Michael and Yolanda "Jerry" (Gyana) DeMattia.

On June 17, 1977, she married her husband Carl L. Tew who preceded her in death on March 9, 2017.

She is survived by son- Carl Tartaglia, Jr., of CT.; daughter- Carol wife of Keith Richards, of Ansonia, CT.; daughter- Joanne wife of William Howarth, of Everett; son- Carl E. Tew, of Centerville; son- Paul Tew, of Centerville; brother- John husband of Connie DeMattia, of CT; along with nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Joan is preceded in death by her brother Ralph DeMattia.

Joan was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church, Bedford Women Moose 480, Bedford American Legion Post 113.

She enjoyed being a part of the Young at Heart Games, volunteer blood drives, golfing, and was a former Antique Car and Motorcycle enthusiast.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 10-11 AM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 11 AM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Everly officiating.

Interment will be at Burning Bush Cemetery, Bedford, PA.
