Mr. John Norman  Koontz, 86, of Brooklyn Park, MD, died Monday, April 10th, 2017 at Harbor Hospital, Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Koontz was born in Bedford on October 4, 1930,  he was the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Pennell) Koontz.

On February 23, 1953, he married Antonie "Toni" (Hogner) Koontz.  She preceded him in death on May 15, 2009.

He is survived by  Son- Michael J. husband of Marian L. (Campbell) Koontz, Woodbine, MD; Grandchildren- Christy L. Koontz, Brandon J. Koontz & Angela N. Koontz; Brother- Frank Koontz, Ohio; Brother- Joe husband of  Mary Koontz, Bedford; Brother- Jack husband of Marge Koontz, Bedford and Sister- Donna Wagner, York.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hendricks and a brother, Donald Koontz.

John was a member of the Granite Baptist Church in Glen Burnie, MD and served in the US Army.  He was employed as a physical plant engineer in the State of Maryland.  John was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and had obtained entry into the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.  He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He will be greatly missed .

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 12 Noon on Friday, April 14th, 2017 with Pastor William Townsend officiating.

Interment will be held at Friends Cove UCC Doublebrick Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 10:00 AM - 12 Noon at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
