Kathryn M (May) Hershberger

Kathryn M. (May) Hershberger, 89, of Claysburg, formerly of Osterburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from her residence.

Kate was born in Bedford, on May 11, 1933, the daughter of the late Doyle and Mary May.

She married Richard E. Hershberger on April 16, 1954, in Cumberland, Maryland. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2018.

She is survived by son- Boye Hershberger and wife Susie, of Claysburg; daughter- Kelly Hamm and husband Steve, of Roaring Spring; grandson- Christian Merritts wife Jess, of Duncansville; granddaughter- Kylie Hershberger and significant other Craig Walter, of Claysburg; grandson- Kasy Hamm, of Roaring Spring and significant other LeAndra Feight, of Imler; great-grandson- Miles Merrits, of Duncansville; brother- Doug May and wife Judy, of Bedford. Kate was preceded in death by brothers William, Joseph and Richard May and sister Pauline Kegg.

Kate was employed on two separate occasions by Kennametal in Bedford, retiring in June 1995 after 15 years of service with the second hiring.

Kate enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, watching the Steelers, Pirates, Nittany Lions and Nascar on TV. Her greatest enjoyment came though, when spending time with family.

Friends will be received from 5-8 PM at Louis Geisel Funeral Home on Friday, June 3, 2022.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10 AM. at Louis Geisel Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Bill Shrout officiating. Interment will be at Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, PA.
