One of our brightest artistic lights was extinguished with the death of Melinda (“Mouse”) Myers Grass December 13, 2016.

Mouse was born September 26, 1944, the daughter of Dr. Reginald and Barbara Myers. She graduated from Everett High School in 1962 and earned a BA in Art History from Dickinson College. She then attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art for four years, where she met and married Robert (“Robin”) Grass.

Mouse and Robin moved to Everett in 1975, refurbished an old iron foundry and set up housekeeping. The Foundry Art Studio was established in 1976, where the Grasses taught art and hosted exhibits, including the Everett Bicentennial Art Exhibit sponsored by the Everett Free Library.

Mouse was a founding and lifelong board member of the Bedford County Arts Council. Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the state. Mouse and Robin were steadfast supporters of the arts.

Mouse was an ardent advocate for animals and the environment. She was also an award-winning gardener whose gardens were floral works of art enjoyed by the community and her cats.

There will be no viewing. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mouse and Robin Grass Scholarship/Award Fund, Bedford County Endowments, 127 N. Juliana St, Bedford PA 15522; Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 227 Hospital Drive, Everett PA 15537; or the Bedford County Humane Society, 1108 Lutzville Rd, Everett PA 15537.

Arrangements entrusted to Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Everett.
