Merle A. Hinson

Mr. Merle A. Hinson, 92, of W. Matttie Road, Everett, died Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Hinson was born in Helixville on Friday, July 20, 1923,  the son of the late Avery and Henrietta (Bence) Hinson.

On September 17, 1942, he married Rita (Grasser) Hinson.  She preceded him in death on October 26, 2013.

He is survived by  Son- George "Barry", husband of  Margaret (Eilert) Hinson, Lucernemines; Daughter- R. Sharon, wife of  James Feight, Bedford; Son- David, husband of  Peggy (Winegardner) Hinson, Harrisburg; Daughter- Mary Lee, wife of  Van Quinn, Ellicott City, MD; Daughter- Betty Sue, wife of  Donald Yokitis, Nanty Glo. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren,  several great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Rhinehart, a granddaughter, Debbie Ann Feight, four brothers, Arol, Floyd, Clair and John and by two sisters, Mary Nave and Ruth Smith.

Merle was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett.  He was a member of the Carpenter's  Union and worked as a construction carpenter.  He was also a farmer and spent many years cutting timber and as a sawyer.  Merle enjoyed gardening, playing "Zonk", reading, especially the Bible and going for drives to explore the back roads.  He was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend and he will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Everett at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27th, 2016 with Father Derek Fairman, celebrant

Committal Service will be held at the Schellsburg Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Everett, where a vigil for Mr. Hinson will be held at 7:30 PM
