Mina (Wierl) Barnett

Mrs. Mina Barnett, 81, of Boozer Road, Schellsburg, passed away Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Barnett was born in Czechoslovakia on Tuesday, May 7, 1935,  the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Schreirer) Wierl.

She married the love of her life, Donald Barnett on December 1st, 1975 in Browns Mills, NJ. Along with her parents, he preceded her in death.

She is survived by  Son- Joseph husband of Karen Myers, Buffalo Mills; Son- Karl Myers and companion Denise, New Jersey; Daughter- Mary J. wife of  Randy Griffith, Schellsburg; Son- William I. Myers and companion Tami; Brother- John and companion Lori; Brother- Joseph husband of Marcella; Sister- Erika wife of Raymond; Brother- William husband of Diana. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Christine, Josef, Elizabeth, Amy, Nicki, Kasey, Brett & Denton, six beloved great grandchildren and hundreds friends.

Mina worked as a Civil Service employee for the Department of Defense for over twenty years and was awarded numerous meritorious service awards.  She was involved with the Friends of Shawnee group and volunteered on a regular basis to cook or help any way she was able. Mina was a loving and kind mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Conemaugh Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital and 365 Hospice.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 with Father Richard Tomkosky officiating.

Interment will be held at Schellsburg Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
