Myrtle I. Sellers

Myrtle Irene (Jones) Sellers, 82, of Bedford passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024 at her home with her son Steve and niece Annette by her side. Myrtle is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was born on July 18, 1941, a daughter of the late Alvin and Helen (Kegg) Jones of Alum Bank.

On August 20, 1973, she married her husband Bob Sellers of Bedford. They were married over 28 years until Bob passed away on October 9, 2001. Myrtle is also preceded in death by sister Carol and brother-in-law Clem Miller of Alum Bank and great niece Jenna Hinish of Breezewood.

Myrtle is survived by son- Steve Jones which whom she resided. She is also survived by brother- Glenn Jones (Peggy), of Southampton and niece- Elise Whalen. Also surviving are two nieces she considered as daughters, Annette Wolfhope (Steve), of Alum Bank; and Jeanette Valentine (Jeff), of Clearville; along with great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was always a hard worker. She was employed for 10 years at the former Standard Register Plant in Bedford. She also worked alongside husband Bob and son Steve on their dairy and beef farm. Myrtle held other jobs she considered most important was being a Loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful mother to her son Steve. Myrtle would always put the needs of others before her own. She took care of her husband Bob and mother Helen until their passing. She will be greatly missed, especially by her son Steve.

Myrtle was a 1959 Graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School. She would often talk fondly of her days growing up around Fishertown and running around with her beloved sister Carol and her many friends. Myrtle enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antiques, watching wildlife, cooking for her family and gardening. Myrtle would can hundreds of jars of produce a year. She also enjoyed watching old country and gospel music, and preachers on TV, attending church and family gatherings. Myrtle attended the Pleasant Hill Bible Church.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, and on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10:30-11 AM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11 AM at Geisel- Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford, with Pastor Deacon George officiating.

Interment will be held at Fishertown Cemetery, Fishertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Myrtle's memory to Family Hospice: 20 Sheraton Dr. Altoona, PA. 16601 or to the National Kidney Foundation: 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY. 10016.
