Nancy Jean (Nevitt) Gates, daughter of Warren-Bill and Faye Nevitt and mother, Helen Dodson, went to be in God’s Care on Thursday, July 6, 2017.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of nearly 65 years, Harry “Poose” Gates, their five children and spouses; Lenny & Dianne (Sutmiller) Gates, Joe & Kathy (Beltz) Gates, Mike & Sue (McGregor) Gates, Cindy Gates and Heidi Gates, their ten grandchildren; Mark, Matt, Luke, Seth, Carrie, Aaron, Kyler, Keena, Kelsey and Devon and their ten great grandchildren. Nancy is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Ethel Maydak, Janet Ness, Goldie Griffith, Roy Claar and Suzie Morris. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Claar.
Nancy enjoyed gardening, reading, writing poetry & short stories, take photos, fishing, traveling, camping, reminiscing about Germany and spending time shopping with her dear friend Rena Ritchey. The late Ivagene Cessna was also a treasured lifelong friend. Having picnics and cookouts with family was a passion of hers. Nancy loved Jesus and most recently attended Pine Grove United Methodist Church and previously attended Chestnut Ridge independent Fellowship Church.
Nancy will be remembered most for her selfless giving to family and friends and her appreciation of simple living.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Louis Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park,
Friends are invited to call at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
