Mrs. Pearl E. Koontz,90, of Koontzville Road, Friends Cove, died at 8:30 PM, Thursday, January 20th, 2011 at Colonial Courtyard, Bedford.

Mrs. Koontz was born in Bedford County on Wednesday September 29, 1920. She lived with caring people in the Everett Area until the mid-1920s when she moved to live with the Freeman Diehl Family in Fishertown until she moved to the Friends Cove Area to live with C. Roy and Fern Diehl in the late-1920's. She left the Diehl home on June 22, 1941, when she married Willard C. Koontz. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1990.

She is survived by Son- C. Robert husband of Carolyn (Nave) Koontz, Bedford; Grandson- Robert D. husband of Susan (Steed) Koontz and thier children Logan and Morgan; Grandson- Kevin W. husband of Mary (Jordan) Koontz and thier children Katie, Macy and Adam; Grandson- Deron A. husband of Sara (Welsh) Koontz and thier children, Taylor and Kade; Granddaughter- Dana Pearl wife of Chad Bulger and thier children, Baylee, Lindsay and Lara. Pearl is also survived by Nancy Diehl Claycomb, married to Rev. Paul Claycomb, whom she called a sister. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Ann Koontz, a half-brother, Sheldon Hartman, who died while serving his country during WWII and a half-brother, Donald Wearverling, Sr.

Pearl was a member of Christ Victory Church in New Buena Vista. She was a farm wife who loved doing things for her family, especially baking pies and sweet rolls. Pearl loved making Colerain Hoagies and going to Phillies Games. Pearl resided in Friends Cove until her second stroke and for the past five years has been living at Colonial Courtyard.

A funeral service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Raystown Road, Everett at 1:30 PM on Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.

Interment will be held at Friends Cove UCC Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1:30 - 3:30 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:45 - 1:30 PM at the funeral home in Everett.
