Richard J. Maurer

Richard J. Maurer, 65, of New Paris, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at his home, New Paris.

Richard was born in Johnstown on July 28, 1958, son of the late Lawrence and Margretta "Vesta" (Hill) Maurer. 

He was preceded in death by parents Margretta "Vesta" (Hill) and Lawrence Maurer, brothers Robert, Thomas, Donald, and brother-in-law Joseph "Chip" Ream. He is survived by sisters, Shirley Ream, also of New Paris, PA and Sandra Maurer of Johnstown, PA, niece Kimberly (Jd) Petrarca, nephew Jt Ream, and extended family members, Dennis and Janet Sawyer. 

He worked as a manager at the 11st Towers in Altoona. He was a caseworker for Bedford Area of Agency and at Tableland. He loved cooking and trying new recipes. Richard was a graduate of Conemaugh Township School District. 

A viewing will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship, New Paris. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 12 PM at Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating. 

Interment will be at Fishertown Cemetery, Fishertown. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the New Paris Methodist Church or the Chestnut Ridge Fellowship Church .
