Richard "Rick" G. Turner

Altoona

Richard 'Rick' Turner, of Altoona, PA, passed away on March 6, 2024. He was born in Schellsburg, PA the younger son of the late Eva (Croyle) and Homer Turner.

Surviving are partner, Judy Anderson; daughters: Kara Warriner (Jim), Jennifer Turner (Matt Miller) and Lin Turner; and grandchildren: Molly Pfahler, Steve Crum and Anthony Crum; brother, Walter Turner (Arlene); and the Rankin family: Michael, Andrea, Wyatt, and Ben.

Rick graduated from Bedford High School in 1967 where he played football and participated in 4-H. He then attended Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and completed the program in 1968. After working with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in Connecticut, he spent most of his career working at Conrail/Norfolk Southern as a locomotive machinist. He was a handyman, resourceful and always willing to help others.

He served in the United States Army National Guard as an Armor Recon Specialist.

He enjoyed visiting with family and friends in Pennsylvania and Maryland, antiquing with Judy, farming and hunting with Walt, country road drives, and tinkering outdoors.

He looked forward to railroader gatherings throughout the year, planting a vegetable garden during spring, and Steelers football in the fall.

Visitation with family and friends will be held 2pm to 6pm Saturday, March, 9 2024, at Geisel-Styer Funeral Home, Bedford. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at Geisel-Styer Funeral Home, Bedford.

Interment at Schellsburg Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

Military rites accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
