Mr. Ross E. McDonald, 91, of Lois Lane, Imler, passed away at 4:25 AM, Monday, January 24th, 2011 at Donahoe Manor, Bedford.
Mr. McDonald was born in Weyant on March 2, 1919, the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Mock) McDonald.
He was married to Olive (Benton) McDonald, who preceded him in death on May 6, 1986.
He is survived by Son- Bernard A. husband of Doris McDonald, Weyant; Daughter- Patsy L. wife of Jay Bowser, Alum Bank; Daughter- Connie E. Bowser, Bedford; Daughter- Faye D. wife of Gary Mickle, Alum Bank; Daughter- Donna L. wife of Bob Barnes, Windber; Sister- Ruby Crist wife of Charles "Bud" Crist of Bedford and by his loving companion of many years, Cathy Swope and her children. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Olene Hopkins
Ross had worked at General Refractory in Claysburg, was a logger for many years and retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He had a talent for working with wood and in his retirement years enjoyed making beautifully crafted items for his family and friends. Ross took enjoyment out of riding his four wheeler and being surrounded by his kitties and his special dog, Buddy.
Ross and his family were very appreciative of Margie Oddo and Stanley Swope for their loving care.
A Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Pleasantville at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 27th, 2011 with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating.
Interment will be held at Mt. Union Cemetery, Lovely.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
