Samuel R. McVicker, 73, of Serenity Circle, Bedford passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Rebecca's Personal Care Home, Everett.
Mr. McVicker was born on April 7, 1949 at the family home in Harrison Twp. , son of the late Samuel J. and Alice L. (Croyle) McVicker.
On October 21, 1978 Sam married Linda A. (Hankinson) McVicker.
Along with his wife- Linda McVicker, Bedford he is survived by daughter- Cynthia wife of Terry Gordon, Schellsburg; son- Chad McVicker husband of David Brown, Altoona; son- Craig McVicker, Fort Loudon, PA; grandchildren- Blair husband of Lexie Gordon and Stacie Schreiber, great grandchildren- Laura Schreiber and Emmet Gordon, sister- Dorothy McVicker, Bedford; sister- Donna Wilson, Nampa, Idaho; sister- Barbara Sarver, New Buena Vista; brother- Paul McVicker, Everett; brother- Larry McVicker, Manns Choice; sister-in-law- Sherre Hankinson, WA and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews . Along with his parents Sam was preceded in death by brother- H. Lee McVicker, mother-in-law- Marjorie Hankinson and brother-in-law-John E. Hankinson.
Sam proudly served his county in the Army during Vietnam. He served in the Army Core of Engineers primarily stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Sam was very hardworking he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Operating Engineers Local No. 66 of Monroeville and was also the Juniata Twp. Supervisor
Mr. McVicker was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
He was a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman Club and the Pleasantville VFW Post #2919 and was a avid hunter and very skilled builder.
Sam was a devoted husband and father as well as an amazing brother and friend who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellburg where a Vigil for the deceased will be held.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church, New Baltimore with Father Mark Pattock- Celebrant.
Interment at St. John's Cemetery, New Baltimore.
Military Rites accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
