Sara Jean (Turner) Downing

Mrs. Sara Jean Downing, 82, of McLean, VA, died Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016 at Envoy of Alexandria Nursing Home in Alexandria, VA.

Mrs. Downing was born in Bedford on Saturday, July 8, 1933,  the daughter of the late Andrew Earl and Sara Susan (Hartman) Turner.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Churchill Ferrier Downing and by a step brother, William.

She is survived by  Brother- David Allen husband of Marlene (Diehl) Turner, Bedford; Brother- Joseph Earl husband of Pat (Carroll) Turner, Frederick, MD; Brother- Robert Harry husband of Erma Turner, Carlsbad, NM.  She is also survived by four nieces, Tina, Lina, Lorijean & Denise.

Jean was a member of the Friends Cove UCC Double Brick Church.  She was employed for 15 years as a fingerprint clerk for the FBI.  Jean was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend, she will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 9th, 2016 with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.

Interment will be held at  Bedford County Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Bedford.
