Thomas “Tom” R. Davidson, 81, of Briar Valley Road, Bedford, died Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Windber Hospice facility in Windber, PA.
He was born in Bedford County on May 29, 1945, son of the late Thomas C. Davidson and Betty (Whetstone) Logue.
Preceded in death by parents Thomas C. Davidson, Betty (Whetstone) Davidson-Logue and stepfather- Frank Logue; infant brother Francis Davidson and Kenneth Patrick (Pat) Davidson; brother-in-law- Gerald “Perk” Wakefield and sister-in-law- Carolee (Hall) Davidson.
On April 24, 1965, he married Carolyn (Joy) McClintock. She survives along with two children; Lisa Sickles, of Pittsburgh and Thomas M. Davidson and wife Michele, of Bedford; siblings: Ed Davidson husband of Dora (Shomo), of Buffalo Mills; Janet L. Wakefield, of Friends Cove; four grandchildren: Ryan and Brandon Sickles and Leah and Luke Davidson.
Tom graduated from Bedford High School, class of 1963 and was actively involved in planning and organizing class reunions. He was the Treasurer and founding member of the B&W Gun Club and the Treasurer of the Industrial Golf League of the Bedford Elks as well as being a Lifetime Elks member.
He worked locally as a barber. He moved to Lawrenceville, PA to work at Ingersol Rand. When he returned to Bedford he worked at Dawson’s Hotel until purchasing the business in 1978 where he worked until retirement in 2011.
He was an absolute character known for his sense of humor and a heart of gold. Enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Especially getting together and spending time with the Old Dawgs, Players and Playmates. Tom was a history buff, who loved playing golf and hunting.
Tom was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State wrestling, Golf, NASCAR racing-Dale Earnhardt fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and radio or live broadcasts when he couldn’t attend. He was like a sports encyclopedia as he could remember stats and historical outcomes of games. He was inducted into the Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame for the 1961-1962 Bedford Wrestling Squad. He enjoyed local dirt track racing and was the originator of the “3rd Turn Racing Club” at the Bedford Speedway and had the first elevated grandstand on the backstretch aka the “Eye in the Sky”. He dearly loved his 1967 Chevelle SS 396 and enjoyed participating in the annual Bedford Fall Foliage Antique Car parade.
The family would like to thank the staff of Windber Hospice for their loving care towards Thomas.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 3-6 PM at Geisel-Styer Funeral Homes, Bedford; a memorial service will follow at 6 PM with Pastor David Weinhold officiating.
