Mr. Wayne R. Shaffer, 70, of Pitt Street, Schellsburg, died Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Shaffer was born in Windber on July 18, 1946,  he was the son of Ferne M. (Mock) Shaffer of Alum Bank and the late  Robert L. Shaffer.

He was preceded in death by his wives.  He was first married to Sandra (Kerr) Shaffer and then to Linda (Hagens) Shaffer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by  Son- Rodney Shaffer, Jacksonville, FL; Daughter- Roxanne wife of  Jonathan Purdy, Ivanhoe, NC; Brother- Dennis P. husband of Bonnie Felton, Millersville; Sister- Vicki wife of Larry Walters, Herndon, VA; Companion- Dorothy McVicker.  In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his son, Randall W. Shaffer.

Wayne was affiliated with the Manns Choice Church of God.  He was a 1964 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  Wayne was employed by Creative Pultrusions, United States Steel, REI, Hedstrom and the Bedford County Jail. He was a member of the Schellsburg VFW Post #4440 and the Bedford American Legion Post #113.  Wayne was a wonderful father, brother and friend and he will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 6th, 2017 with Rev. Richard Whetstone officiating.

Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Geisel Funeral Home in Schellsburg.
