Casey R. Clark

September 4, 1973 — January 13, 2021

Casey R. Clark, 47, of Everett, PA was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Casey contracted Malaria and COVID-19 after deploying to Djibouti in service to the country. He was born Tuesday, September 4, 1973, in Bedford, PA son of Jody (Bush) Clark and the late Melvin (Merv) Clark lll.

On August 14, 2004, in Bethesda, MD, Casey married Selvi (Rajakumaran) Clark, who survives along with their children Daron, Berkeley, Rehya and Naiya; grandchildren: Knoxx and Ryatt; mother, Jody Clark of Everett, PA; sister and brother-in-law Schatze and Mark Young of Everett, PA;  brother and sister-in-law Cody and Vanessa Clark of Mount Joy, PA; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Casey had a second mother, Herlinda Lopez, whom he loved deeply as family. He was especially close to his brother-in-law, Satheesh Rajakumaran. In addition to his father Merv, he was preceded in passing by his baby boy ‘Rajan’, his Uncle Randy E. Clark and his Aunt Sherry (Bush) Cornelius.

Casey grew up in Everett, PA and was always the pride of his hometown as the captain of his wrestling team, and football team where they led their first victory against its rival Bedford High School. He ranked 8th in the state for wrestling and was awarded college wrestling scholarships but like nearly every male in his family, he chose to serve a cause greater than himself.

One month after graduating high school, Casey joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He spent 5 years as a Torpedoman on submarines deploying on the USS Bluefish in Charleston, SC and the USS Scranton in Norfolk, VA to the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf in Operation Desert Storm. It was there in Charleston where Casey became the proud father of twin daughters, Daron and Berkeley in 1993, whom he shared with his former spouse, Elissa Clower.

He joined the Navy Special Operations Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) forces completing rigorous training as a Navy diver, bomb technician, and parachuter. Only 32 servicemembers were accepted into the EOD program and only 7 graduated including Casey. He stationed in Whidbey Island, WA where he deployed to East Asia and the Arabian Gulf training foreign and U.S. Special Forces in Improvised Explosive Device (IED) techniques.

After 9/11 Casey deployed again to Afghanistan in 2002 and Iraq in 2003 for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving, Casey earned a Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College in 2003. Casey left the Navy after 14 years and joined the Federal Government as part of a special operations unit for covert ground operations. In this role, Casey honorably and selflessly conducted exactly 50 deployments in service to the country to locations including Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Japan, Jamaica, Philippines, Chad and Djibouti. That is 1,544 days or 4 years, 2 months and 23 days over the last 15 years. During this time, Casey and Selvi had two more daughters, Rehya and Naiya in 2008 and 2011.

Casey enjoyed hunting, hiking, Deep Creek Lake, and talking with his mom. He believed his purpose was to be a husband, father and grandfather and he cherished every minute of his life with his family. He loved hosting gatherings with family and friends where he was the designated griller. Casey attended Fairhaven United Methodist Church and he was a 30-year member of the Everett American Legion Post #8. A quiet and humble man with a generous heart, he will be remembered for the devotion he had for his family and country. When he was not serving his country, he was serving his family. Casey always loved the Lord and recently rededicated his life to Christ. He taught his daughters and grandsons to say the Lord’s Prayer every night. Casey will finally rest in peace in the retirement he had wished for, beside his father and hero, Merv, in Everett, PA.
