Elvira (deSilva) McMichael

Elvira  McMichael, 83, of Manns Choice passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2019 surrounded by her family members.

Mrs. McMichael was born in Bogota, Columbia on May 23, 1936,  she was the youngest child of the late Efren and Margarita de Silva.

Elivra is survived by her husband Gene McMichael, daughter and son-in-law Monica and Alan Strait and Grandson Austin Strait; daughters - Marcia Ferrell and Marianna Heath and son and daughter-in-law Alex and Jan McMichael and her Labrador Miss Mandy. Elivra was preceded in death by her daughter Natushka Shoemaker.

Mrs. McMichael moved to Florida in the 60's as a single parent to start her new life raising her daughter and son, Natushka and Alex. She worked as a data processor for Hialeah Hospital.

In 1972 she married Gene McMichael and together they raised their five children with Gene's daughter's Monica, Marcia and Marianna with the eventual addition of her mother Margarita, who she cared for as well. In 1999 Elvira and Gene became Florida "snowbirds' in order to be closer to her daughter Natushka living in Manns Choice and became permanent residents in 2004. Elvira really enjoyed helping out her daughter and son-in-law Bill Shoemaker with their Simmental business and became quite the "farm girl" winning the "Grand Champion" title for her bull "Top Gun" whom she raised from a calf at the Penn State Farm Show in 2002.

She was very proud and happy to become a church member of Milligan's Cove Christian Church.

A Funeral Service will be held  at Milligans Cove Christian Church, Manns Choice at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 7, 2019  with Pastor Russell Hoffman officiating.  Interment at Milligans Cove Cemetery, Manns Choice.
