Emery A. Turner

Mr. Emery A. Turner, 87, of Glade Pike, Buffalo Mills, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Juniata, PA on September 12, 1932,  son of the late Floyd and Mary (May) Turner.

On July 1, 1961 Emery married Shelah Rose (Bence) Turner.

In addition to his wife he is survived by Son- Scott E. husband of  Rachael  Turner, Chesapeake, VA; Grandson- Jared Turner; Granddaughter-  Kendall Turner.  Emery was preceded in death by his parents and his brother- Geral Turner.

He was a 1950 graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland. Emery then attended Frostburg University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and then his master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Mr. Turner retired after 35 years of teaching with the last 30 years of service at Bedford Area School District where he was a Chemistry Teacher.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Manns Choice where he served on the church board and was a Sunday School Teacher for 30 years at Point UMC. Emery was a member of Gideons International and went on a trip to Tanzania with fellow Gideons.

Amongst the many things Emery did he also raised beef cattle and sold fertilizer for Anderson for over 30 years. He was a very active member in his community; he was a member of the Bedford County Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the following car clubs; AACA, VMCCA, Fort Bedford Antique Car Club, Allegheny Mountain Region, Mid-Atlantic Region, and Great Lakes Region; He was the News Editor for Fort Bedford Club. Emery attended 29 Glidden Tours  with his blue Model A.

Emery enjoyed playing the fiddle, singing his songs, watching his granddaughter play golf, and spending time with his family.

He will be deeply and forever loved and missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A viewing will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, Manns Choice on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 3-7PM (Masks are suggested).

A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, Manns Choice, at 11:00AM on Friday, July 31, 2020 with Pastor Cheryl Ward officiating.

Interment at Dry Ridge Cemetery, Manns Choice.
