Gene H. Shaffer, 89, of Dunnings Creek Road, New Paris, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Shaffer was born at the Family Farm in Schellsburg on August 14, 1932, son of the late Lewis E. Shaffer Sr. and Reta J. (Lohr) Shaffer.
Gene is survived by his three children- Larry G. Shaffer and wife Tina, Desert Hills, AZ; LuAnne wife of Rick Schofield, Schellsburg; and Chris wife of Rick Marsh, Imler; former wife- Mary Lou (Kinzey) Shaffer, Bedford, grandchildren- Brian (Tiffany) Shaffer, Trudy (Sean) McCreary, Nicole (David) Claar and John Bridaham, great grandchildren- Colton, Kyle, Emily, Mason, Rylie and Shaylie, companion- Janet Detwiler and loyal Doberman Doc. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by- sisters- Ida Richardson, Anna Lambert and Sarah Miller and brothers- Lewis E. Shaffer, Jr. and John Shaffer.
Mr. Shaffer proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
Gene retired from Kennametal and was the previous owner of Castlewood Manor Apt., St. Clairsville, PA.
He attended Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.
Gene was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed hunting, gardening, flowers and cooking. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 2, 2022, from 12-2PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg with a Funeral Service at 2:00PM with Pastor Dan Oldham officiating.
Interment at Schellsburg Cemetery.
Military Rites accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
