Harold D. Wingard, 86, of Stoney Creek Road, Fishertown, PA went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Donahoe Manor, Bedford.
Mr. Wingard was born on April 4, 1936, in Windber, PA, son of the late Walter and R. Irene (Frye) Wingard.
On August 10, 1968, Harold married Marie (Royce) Wingard.
Along with his wife Marie, he is survived by sons- Gary A. Wingard, Alum Bank; James R. husband of Stephanie Wingard, Alum Bank and daughter- Christina M. wife of Rick Wissinger, Bedford; and two granddaughters- Isabella and Maya Wingard. Along with his parents Harold was preceded in death by sister- Donna Klahre, nephew- David Klahre and niece- Kathy Arbogast.
Harold loved his church, he was a member of Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren and served in many capacities- Deacon, longtime treasurer, longtime custodian and much more. Harold was a strong man of his faith and passed it on to his family.
He worked for the USDA/Soil Conservation Service for 45 years.
He had a love of sports. In his younger years, he played baseball in Pleasantville. Later he coached little league. He loved all Pittsburgh teams but his favorite sports to watch by far were his granddaughter's softball and basketball games.
Harold loved the outdoors. He spent many hours and miles walking the Ridge and near the Fish Hatchery with his golden retrievers. He also loved working in his garden. He loved spending time in the woods hunting.
Harold was a man of few words but loved his family with his whole heart. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren, New Paris.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 10:00AM at Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Vaughn Loose officiating.
Interment at Fishertown Cemetery.
