John S. Whitesell, Jr.

John S. Whitesell Jr., 88, of Givler Drive, Martinsburg, formerly of Bedford, died on Friday, April 3, 2020, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

Mr. Whitesell Jr., was born in Washington Crossings, PA on December 11, 1931, son of the late John S. Whitesell Sr., and Elizabeth (Slater) Whitesell.

On June 3, 1956, John, married Mary Jane (Hull) Whitesell, together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2017.

He is survived by son, Edward S. husband, of Bonnie (D'Uva) Whitesell, of Osterburg; daughter, Katherin, wife of Joseph Holovich, of Greensburg; son-in-law, Walter Kuzemchock, of Frenchville; four grandchildren: Abbie Conlon, Mary Kenney, Brian Kenney and Andrew Kenney and three great-grandchildren, Caylie, Blake and Blaine.

John was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Patricia Kuzemchock; grandson, David Kuzemchock; sisters, Dorothy and Penelope, and brother, Darius.

Mr. Whitesell was a Major in the U.S. Air Force where he served as a pilot and was stationed stateside as well as Germany and Vietnam.

He then retired as a commercial Pilot for United Airlines. He traveled the four corners of the world and love to fly to China and Japan.

He was a member of the Bedford Lions Club.

John was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School.

He enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, bee keeping and farming.

John will be remembered for his devotion to his wife during her prolonged illness.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Fishertown Cemetery.
