Joseph A. Milburn, 70, Active in Ministry, Community and Veteran Service

Joseph A. Milburn, 70, Schellsburg, PA, was home on our farm as he held onto my hand and looked into my eyes and then entered into the glory of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 7:26 AM, on October 21, 2021.

Born in Roxborough, PA on July 16, 1951, Joe was the son of the late Hugh F. Milburn and the late Jane Andrews Milburn.

Joe attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA and graduated from Roxborough High School, PA.

Joe volunteered in the Army from September 6, 1968, until November 9th, 1971, and served “In Country” during the Viet Nam War on the helicopters as a mechanic, and towards the end of his last tour, in the 504th Military Police Company.

He has been honored for his service over the years and has been a member of VFW Norwood Post 7213, life member of the VFW Schellsburg Post 4440, and an active member of the Bedford County Viet Nam Veterans, where he has participated in parades and events. Joe was also active in various war memorials in Collingdale, PA, and Bedford, PA.

Joe and I met in Bradenton Beach, FL, in 1980, had a whirlwind courtship, and I was privileged to become his best friend in marriage on March 28, 1981, at the Rose Tree Church of the Nazarene in Media, PA.

We raised our beautiful daughter Mai Kim, in Orlando, FL and moved back to our home state of PA in 1993.

Joe always loved the area where his dad was born and raised, so in 2001 we settled on our farm (the Isaac Rock home) in Juniata Township, Bedford County, where we raised Miniature Donkeys and goats.

No matter where we lived, Joe was always community minded, being active in local politics, parades, 4th of July committees, the PA Light Foot, the Chamber of Commerce during our 30-year ownership of Milburn Painting, however his main focus was always in serving Christ.

As a faithful follower of Christ, Joe and I actively served in various ministries, over the years, including the Crusade Team for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, as a Chaplain for Point Man Int’l Ministries (A Vet to Vet National. Ministry) and a regular ministry volunteer for the Bedford Correctional Facility.

He has served as an anointed minister in his own right at our Bedford County Church, Faith Heart Family Fellowship where I serve as Pastor, and he lived to see prayers answered with a new church building being purchased in August.

As a “Jack of all Trades,” Joe was always willing to assist family and friends, sharing his many skills and enjoyed hobbies of hunting and target shooting.

He is survived by our daughter, Mai Kim and son-in-law Kenyon Hughes of Altamonte Springs, FL, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Michelle and Jeffery Bucolo of Schellsburg, PA.

I had the honor of him being my best friend, partner and love of my life for over 41 years and because of our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we will see each other again.
