Josphine V. (Gowaty) Dohoda

Josephine V. Dohoda, 99, of Dakota Farm Road, Schellsburg passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

Mrs. Dohoda was born in Central City on January 26, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Gowaty. She was the last surviving member of her family.

On October 22, 1944, Josephine married Joseph S. Dohoda. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2005.

Josephine is survived by 2 sons- Frank husband of Debbie Dohoda and Dave husband of Cindy Dohoda both of Schellsburg; 2 grandchildren- Christine wife of Dale Imler and Matthew husband of Veronica Dohoda and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers- Steve, John and Stanley and sisters- Fay, Violet and Helen.

Josephine worked in Pittsburgh at the Warfactory until the World War II ended making ammunition. She then moved to Bedford County in 1949, where she farmed beside her husband until retirement.

She was a hard worker and enjoyed working on the farm more than anything else. Josephine was a kind-hearted lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

At Josephine’s request there will be no viewing.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 10:00AM at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bedford with Father Richard Tomkosky-celebrant.

Interment at St. Thomas Cemetery, Bedford.
